Man with Van Harlington Modern Slavery Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Man with Van Harlington in respect of our financial year and sets out the actions we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting business in an honest, transparent, and responsible way and to upholding the rights and dignity of every person we engage with.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Man with Van Harlington provides transport, removals, and related services to domestic and commercial customers. Our activities rely on a range of suppliers and partners, including vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging providers, facilities services, and occasional use of subcontracted labour. We recognise that the risk of modern slavery can exist at any point in a supply chain, particularly where there is subcontracting, temporary labour, or overseas sourcing of goods and materials.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This includes forced or compulsory labour, debt bondage, servitude, deceptive or exploitative recruitment practices, and any form of child labour that does not comply with applicable laws and recognised international standards. We expect the same high standards from everyone we work with, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers of goods and services.

All staff are informed that participation in, or wilful disregard of, exploitative labour practices is unacceptable and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contracts, and reporting to the relevant authorities where appropriate.

Due Diligence and Supplier Audits

We are committed to identifying and assessing potential risks of modern slavery within our supply chains. Before engaging new suppliers or subcontractors, we undertake proportionate due diligence to understand their labour practices, employment policies, and ethical standards.

Our approach to supplier management includes the right to conduct audits or request evidence of compliance, such as workforce records, right to work checks, and details of recruitment and pay practices. Where we identify heightened risk, we increase the level of scrutiny and may conduct more frequent reviews or site visits where practical. Suppliers who fail to meet our expectations or who do not demonstrate a clear commitment to tackling modern slavery may have their contracts reviewed or terminated.

Training, Awareness, and Responsibilities

Responsibility for implementing this statement rests with senior management, who oversee the development and application of relevant policies. Managers with responsibility for procurement, recruitment, and subcontracting are required to be familiar with the risks of modern slavery and to apply our due diligence procedures consistently.

We aim to raise awareness among staff so they can recognise warning signs of exploitation, such as evidence of coercion, restriction of movement, retention of identity documents, or workers appearing frightened or unable to speak freely. Employees are reminded that everyone has a role to play in maintaining an ethical and safe working environment.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

We encourage anyone who has concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected with our business to speak up without fear of reprisals. Concerns can be raised internally with a manager or through designated reporting channels described in our internal policies.

All reports are taken seriously and treated in confidence as far as is reasonably possible. We investigate concerns promptly and, where appropriate, take corrective action. This may include working with suppliers to remedy issues, suspending relationships pending investigation, or notifying the relevant authorities if criminal activity is suspected. Retaliation against any person who raises a genuine concern in good faith is strictly prohibited.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires continuous improvement. We are committed to periodically reviewing our policies, risk assessments, and training to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to the nature and scale of our operations.

This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed and updated at least annually by senior management. As part of that review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our due diligence measures, supplier audits, and reporting mechanisms and consider any changes in legislation, guidance, or best practice. Where necessary, we will refine our approach to further reduce the risk of modern slavery in our business and throughout our supply chains.

This statement reflects the commitment of Man with Van Harlington to uphold human rights, promote fair working conditions, and ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our organisation.
